Celebrating Children’s Book Week with a Blog Hop & Honey the Hero Autographed Copy Giveaway

Children’s Book Week is definitely an event I can get behind! We need more kids reading more of the time–and starting early. To celebrate this important week of youngun literacy, I’m taking part in a blog hop. Over 75 blogs will be giving away books for kids–can’t go wrong with that! Scroll down for more info about Children’s Book Week, the blog hop, and how you can win an autographed copy of my first book for children, Honey the Hero.
Children’s Book Week is the national celebration of books and reading for youth.
Established in 1919, Children’s Book Week is the longest-running literacy initiative in the country. Each year, books for young people and the joy of reading are feted for a full week with author and illustrator appearances, storytelling, parties, and other book-related events at schools, libraries, bookstores, museums, and homes from coast to coast!
Administered by Every Child A Reader and sponsored by the Children’s Book Council, Children’s Book Week celebrates the transformative power of literacy. May 7-13, 2012
Hi, my name is Ducky the Sun Conure, and I’m here to tell you all about the Bird Brain Books, wahoo! What’re the Bird Brain Books, you ask? Well… They are basically the most awesome kid books in the history of reading (no offense, Bella World). They’ve got cool color illustrations by the talented Sarah Shaw, and fun words written by my mommy, Emlyn Chand, but the most impressive thing about this new book series is that… it was inspired by me! Yes, me!
Accordingly, Mama Emlyn has made me the spokes-model, and she even wrote a cool song for me to dance to. Please click on the video below to watch my super awesome performance.
Alright, now that you are no doubt feeling pumped, allow me to get to the point, an autographed copy of Honey the Hero, the very first book in this birdly series, is up for grabs in a fun Children’s Book Week-inspired giveaway.
Let me tell you about Honey. She’s a curious little parakeet living in the Australian Outback. One day she happens upon a family watching a show about a superhero on a great big TV screen. Since she can already fly, all she needs to do is create a costume to conceal her true identity—bammo—now she’s a superhero too!
Well, let’s just say, her first attempts at saving the day go horribly wrong. Disheartened, the poor baby bird decides to give up on her dream. But, uh-oh, now someone actually needs Honey’s help. Can she pull it together and save the day at last?
What did you expect me to tell you the answer? Hahaha, go get the book, silly! Enter below and cross your feathers for a win!
