Book Review & Giveaway: Road to Tomorrow by Mary Metcalfe

What would you do if you found yourself in an abusive marriage? Andrea Garrett is afraid to leave her husband but knows that staying will risk leaving her two small children as orphans. On the night before her abusive husband, Sean, returns from his latest tour of duty, she decides she can’t delay her departure another moment and heads for Boston, with a quick pit stop to drop her children off at their Uncle’s for safe keeping.
At this point, Andrea has had an emotionally draining day, and it takes its toll by causing her to drift to sleep while driving. She crashes into a ditch and totals her car in a strange, small town, she’s never heard of before–Laskin.

For once in her life, it seems somebody is actually looking out for Andrea in the form of Devin and Carol, two kindly passers-by who stop to escort Andrea to the hospital and then claim her for their own, even giving her a place to stay in their home.
From there, Andrea sets her sights on building a new, happy life as quickly as possible. She misses her children, darn it! Luckily, the kindness of strangers extends even further than she could have possibly imagined. Within a few days, she is able to find a new (used) vehicle, an apartment, and even a job. Of course, she’s making lots of new friends along the way, too.
Just as everything seems to be going perfectly and Andrea’s new life is well within grasp, Sean makes an appearance. He won’t let her go. She can live with him, or she can “live” six feet under, as far as he’s concerned.

Is Andrea’s new life just a dream, or will she find a way to escape the abuse and to live her life the way she deserves to? What will become of her children? And what happens when ”Until death do we part” is put to the ultimate test by way of Sean meeting a horrific accident that renders him severely disabled?
Well, you’ll just have to read the book to find out.
Despite its heavy subject matter, Road to Tomorrow by Mary Metcalfe is a fast-paced read that will have you turning the pages. This is a great book for anyone who’s been in an abusive relationship or knows someone who is still trapped in that special brand of hell. This book will give women the courage to stand up for themselves and to boldly venture forth on that road to a better, happier tomorrow.
Bonus: Lots of adorable animals in this one from horses and lambs to puppies and kittens, oh my!
